Tahawus means Cloud Splitter and is what the Natives called the Mountain that is now known as Mt Marcy. It also is the name of the Mine where Iron Ore was extracted and smelted to help build America and latter provided Titanium for the war effort. The Village of Adirondac in the shadow of Tahawus, now a ghost town, is where many a mining family lived and remains alive in the memories of the children who grew up there. The massive blast furnace that used to smelt the ore is on the front of the bag can be visited at Upper Works in Newcomb, NY This coffee is our darkest and boldest and is a true French Roast.
