Louis Seymor epitomizes the saying "Everyone in the Adirondacks has a story". Originally from Canada, Louie ran away from home at a young age to join the circus. By the time he was 12 he had taken a job guiding mules on the Erie canal. He made his way up to the wilderness of the Adirondacks and made a name for himself as a lumberjack, mastering the art of river drives and clean chopping. In later life he became more reclusive only going into town twice a year to sell his furs. He would announce his arrival with the call of wild animals to the children's delight.
